The first recording I made was on May 5, 2007. To my knowledge, this is the only literal translation of the Word of God into music that has ever been attempted or recorded. Since each word from the Bible has it's own musical sound, the listener quickly hears and begins recognizing the patterns as they speak to our hearts in a soothing and comforting manner.
     I did not write this music. I am only the transcriber. The melody translates directly from the Word of God. My input is minimal. When the Bible is translated into English, the publisher has the option to decide what size and type of font is used, whether the words of Jesus are printed in red or black, or the type and kind of footnotes provided. I made similar decisions when transcribing the Word into music. I chose what instrument would play the music, what tempo or speed the music would be played, and whether a particular note was a high note or a low note. Just as a language translator must determine the correct usage of a word, I had to decide what musical notes to assign to each letter of the alphabet. I chose to use the Aeolian, or minor, mode for this translation. The letter A is assigned the musical note A, the letter B is assigned the musical note B, and so on, repeating the musical pattern through the alphabet.
     When I began this project, I had no idea how it would turn out. Would there be recognizable music themes and melodies, or would it be gibberish? I was amazed and pleasantly surprised to hear the beautiful musical motifs that emerge from the Word. The music makes sense to the listener's ear and the patterns quickly emerge and form coherent phrasing.
     I am immensely pleased to have been fortunate enough to do this translation. The idea came to me after evening prayers, when I was asking God for inspiration for a worthy project. I take no credit for anything about this recording; it wasn't my idea and it's not my music. God writes wonderful music.
